New York City in Photographs, 1962-72 |
Staircasephotograph printlarge view I liked the impossible geometry of all the lines and angles in this study of a staircase at an elevated subway station. I also liked the quality of the light in this photograph. As with all of Safran's photographs, this one documents the grime and decay of the cityscape with elegant clarity. What makes this photo so unusual, is that there are no people in it. |
