The canvas is covered with 70 portraits of people the artist knew over his lifetime, including a self-portrait (wearing a cowboy hat) located centrally in the lower half of the painting. Faces is a masterfully executed twist on traditional portraiture - a portrait of the artist through the portraits of those he knew. |
